Yeah, mine is a '74. The small starboard seat locker just opens into the hull aft of the settee. I guess it was some years later it was changed to a separate compartment. cheers, John S. On 05/01/2018 09:12 PM, Thomas Buzzi wrote:
John, My 17 was a '77 and my friend's was a '74 and had several different treatments as to how it was assembled and designed. I plan on putting a seat locker on the starboard side forward of the "icebox" for anchor storage. That should improve weight distribution as well as keep the anchor and line handy. Fair winds, Tom B

That must vary by boat...old ones like my #38, the lower and upper post are directly stacked on each other, and there's no bulkhead forward under the v-berth, stiffeners on the underside so it's all nice and open under there.
cheers, John S.

Normal. The lower post supports a bridge to the forward bulkhead of the liner. Congrats on the new 17

I’ve picked up a “new to me” M17 #645. I noticed that there’s a short little compression post underneath the liner but that this little compression post doesn’t line up with main chrome compression post. Is this unusual? It seems strange to me as I can’t see why they don’t line up and support each other better but maybe I’ll need to take a second look. jared
