I spoke to Patrick at the HawkEye dealer and he recommended the D10D with a sealed gel battery. Does anyone have experience with that set up. We trailer our boat home each time we sail so we can charge the battery at home. Thank you, Valerie On Wed, Dec 21, 2011 at 8:42 AM, V Gates <fairoaksca8139@gmail.com> wrote:
Thank you Dave. I bought the HawkEye D10D for my husband's birthday not realizing we have to have a battery, which we don't. I will order the HawkEye HP22PX. BTW, he was very impressed with my choice of present. This list has afforded me to be very creative!

first recommendation is handheld. example is the HawkEye H22PX. about $100.
if you wish to do a fixed install, and have an electrical system, get a depth sounder that uses an in-hull trasnducer. HawkEye D10D is a nice unit. follow the instructions on how to in-hull mount. not difficult, but it may require a few 'test installs'.
(you may find a few Uniden QT-206 units around, make sure you get one with an in-hull transducer. The QT-206 has been discontinued so what you find is 'all that is left' in the marketplace.)
again, my first recommendation is a handheld.

I am interested in a recommendation for a depth finder for a Montgomery 15.
