OK, As long as you are swapping 'I must have been nuts' stories; here is mine. Back in '88 I decided I wanted a sailboat. I read a sailing book and ordered a brand new M15. I visited it once in the factory before the top was put on; what a big rowboat! I took my brand new M15 directly from the dealer to the lake. Fortunately it was a fairly calm day so I could calmly sail along and look at the rigging and think 'That's not right'. I have been sailing ever since and have learned quite well that there are two kinds of sailors: Those that have run aground and Damn liars. -- Brian Ripley '88 M15 #421 Roseville CA ----- Original Message ---- From: Harvey G Wilson <harveywilson@juno.com> To: foxy@doci.net; montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Tuesday, January 24, 2006 4:04:14 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: Re: new to the list
After I failed to leave the dock on my first attempt to sail, I went "yard sailing" almost every evening for a couple of weeks until I was confident that I had figured out the rigging. If not the rudder!!!<<
I, too, went "Yard Sailing" when I first got Stargazer, my M-17, now with a new owner <snif> Great practice raising the sails and even cranking the Seagull over for 10-15 seconds run time to keep in practice. I had the perfect cover for nosey neighbors.....I had the grandkids over and we played Pirate Ship <GG> Harvey/ Ga former M-17 Stargazer _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats
