David, The story I was told was that the son of the owner was sailing the boat with number of Boy Scouts or some such group. They suffered a knock down in a violet gust and all the kids slid to the lee side, pushing the boat far enough down to allow water into the open companion way. The son did not remove the wet interior cushions and mold/mildew ruined them. I find that the boat has endured considerable neglect and some careless use, but will be fine with some TLC.
