Thank all you guys for good ideas. At the Small Craft Skills Academy one thing John Welsford stressed was always "three points of contact" at all times. So, 2 feet, 1 hand, or 2 hands, 1 foot, etc. I took the life lines off my M15 last week. I was of the opinion that they were more cosmetic than anything else, and in a small boat hit you below the knee, where the only thing they will do is trip you entering and leaving the boat. They also just get in the way. I sailed without them last weekend as previously posted, and it was much better.
