      David,

An alternative to raising the traveler is to lower the tiller.  Take a look at this Boston Whaler:

I'd love to combine that with a stern traveler of some sort, a la  
Flicka. But I haven't yet come across a good, functional track setup 
that would elevate it above the tiller, and still look appropriate
on an M15.
