Sandy, About 5200 miles ago I would have been inclined to agree with you. I was worried that our Tahoe would not quite be enough vehicle for the 23. It is however rated at 7500lbs towing so off we went on our trip from Havasu to Florida and back. Like I said I used to own 3/4 ton trucks (both gas and diesel) and was very familiar with how they towed similar loads. To my amazement the Tahoe towed every bit as well and was way more comfortable. I would say that yes, it is at about the max that I would feel comfortable with for that vehicle, however, at no time was it struggling with the load and it was always in full control control of the trailer. Stopping was no problem (the disc brakes on the trailer probably helped out a bit). I'd have no problem hitching up and heading cross country again with it. Granted if you are going to cross the Rockies up in Colorado or something like that, then the extra horsepower of a diesel would definitely be nice. But, now that I have towed with both vehicles I'm surprised to say that I'd take the Tahoe over the truck anyday. We were able to take out the back seats and carry a ton of stuff in the rear as well as have a place to strecth out for a few winks of shut-eye. If we were towing anything larger like a Norsea or a Dana, yeah, a 3/4 or 1-ton truck would be the only way to go. No way the Tahoe could handle that. But I feel that we put her through a pretty good road test on the 2600 mile return trip and she did pretty good by us.
