Bill, I was planning get latches but was not aware of the ones that can be closed with some pressure applied. I looked at the ones on the site you provided and will probably opt for one of those. You have to lead the line down from the hatch, to a turning point (pad eye), then forward along the interior face of the cockpit side. I like the external latches better. Your experience may differ.
