I also have the CDI FF2 on my M17. I added it a couple seasons ago. Along with getting a new jib designed to fit it and to reef well (keep good shape when reefed). The sail is equally as important as the furler, if you are going to want to reef it and have it work at all well. If you are just going to furl, not such a big deal, and you could use a furling-only furler which might be simpler/cheaper. In fact I have an excess Schaefer furling drum I could sell you... ;-) For a reefing furler, your existing jib would at the least need the "luff tape" (I think it's called) of the appropriate size for the slot in the furler extrusion put on the luff (in place of hanks/grommets/etc). If you want it to reef well, it needs luff padding added also so that good shape is maintained as you reef. And, it may be that your existing jib cannot be modified in either or both of the above ways. I had a local rigger look at the boat this morning and he says the boat is too heavy for the "Harken Small Boat" and he is unsure which furl is best suited for this boat. He is going to do some research but I thought I would put it out to you all as well. The head sail is a genoa 150% Also, is it reasonable to expect the furl to be able to reef?
