Howard, Amen, The heavier anchor is always better. The 4 pound Bruce may hold beautifully, but if the chips are down, a 50 pound Bruce or CQR for an M15 sounds very reasonable to me. It may be total overkill, but it helps your spirit. On my Tripp-Lentsch 29, my "insurance policy", with experience, was a 45 pound CQR, with lots of chain and lots of rode. I never used it, but it was a mighty comforting feeling to know that it was in the forepeak, and always available, ....if needed. ~~~~~~~~~~ When we first sailed in the Adriatic, we wound up in a Bora at Pula. A Bora is a sudden high speed wind that sweeps down from the Alps and fans out across the northern Adriatic. The air up in the Alps is cold and dense. The air on the Adriatic is warm and less dense. The result is like flushing an old top tank toilet. The cold air rushes down from the alps, and for about 8 hours there is pandemonium. Then the "flush" is used up, and all is peaceful and quiet again - as you pick up the pieces, or as I did once, try and get the boat unstuck from the mud. (You dig a trench for the fin keel using a companionway hatch board) I only had one anchor - a 22 pound Danforth - and we sailed around that anchor all night long as the wind howled. The Admirable and I alternated holding anchor watches all night long till it calmed down again at dawn, and peace was restored. As our anchor came up out of the harbor bottom, my wife said, she wanted to kiss it......... The symbol of an anchor is security, and the more the better! Connie
