Guys, A tri-color mast head light is not an anchor light. The tricolor has all three colors usually lit by one bulb. An anchor light is an all white all round light. You can't make a tri-color show all white, at least not one that I know of. Somebody let me know if I'm wrong. Also IIRC the tri-color masthead light needs a steaming lite. a white lite on the front of the mast, usually about 2/3 of the way up, to be used when under power. BUT, on a 15 foot boat I don't believe any of this is actually *required*. At sea though, or in busy areas, it's probably a good idea. Rik wcampion@aol.com wrote:
Gary,
I agree with you. I mention the anchor light only because I've seen numerous boat anchored at night with the clear/while light on all night.? I have an anchor light mounted on my stern, but it's so bright at night that I turn if off when I go to bed.? I'm thinking about mounting a light?somewhere up front to use as an?anchor light, so?it won't interfere with my 'Zzzzzzzzzz' at night.??
Let's just hope the CG isn't out doing spot checks at 2am!!

Skip,
On My 17 the tri-color masthead light has the red, green and white but I don't believe the white is an anchor light, I think it serves as the stern light. Also I think the tri-color is only acceptable under power. The operative
word here is "think" cause I'm not 100 percent on this.
I'm sure one of our M brothers will know for sure.
