This year I'm going to try to use a large net bag to hold the anchor line. The bag I have has a solid cloth bottom that I will put a small hole in and run about 4-5' of the bitter end. The other end of the bag has a string closure which can be used to fake out the rode. The bag has a shoulder strap to make it easy to carry up to the bow after I've deployed the anchor from the stern as most of you have recommended. We'll see how it works and I'll post later. Have a great weekend ya'll. Great ideas, Connie,
I have also found that a 3 gallon household bucket also works fine for 150' of anchor rode and 17' of chain. My 11 lb claw anchor goes in the bilge under the cockpit with the bucket right next to it. Feeding the rode and chain into the bucket eliminates snarls when the line runs out.
The oil containers are a really great idea for gas storage. Do you need to clean them out before filling them with gas?
