Stan, Free opinion - worth every cent. I prefer the long shank for the additional prop depth when there are waves or I am crossing wakes and for keeping the exhaust underwater a bit more often when I go forward with the motor idling. The keel is still deeper so there isn't a greater risk for striking something with the prop. Stan Winarski M-15, #177 Carol II
