Mlisters: Winter is almost over! This weekend will be the Vernal Equinox and there are only 12 weeks before the Chesapeake Bay Cruise 2004! All small cruising boats are welcome! The traditional time of the second full week in June will be adhered to again this year so plan on starting the cruise June Saturday June 12th. The trip generally runs for the week but If you can only stay a couple days come anyway. This years cruise will be on the Chester River. I just cant pass up such a wonderful cruising ground. I have made a couple of overnight trips on portions of the river in the past and enjoyed every one. This area has the highest rating of any on the Bay for scenic cruising with great anchorages. The Chester river is on the Eastern shore just north of the Annapolis Bay bridge. It is relatively isolated area and there are no restaurants on or near the water except at Kent narrows and Chestertown. There are a couple of marinas with showers, ice and minimal groceries. The area is far enough north on the bay with enough fresh water to keep the sea nettles away. It is an area with numerous sandy beaches with good swimming, clamming and not much boat traffic. Lots of side creeks, coves and bays to explore with enough open water to catch the stronger breezes. This area has some of the best bucolic anchorages on the bay! We can arrange the cruise so there is a hotel nearby if you dont care for sleeping on board. If there is any interest at all send me an email directly, doug_kelch@yahoo.com, and I will add you to the Chesapeake Bay Cruise list and keep you posted on the planning details as they evolve. If you think you are on my CBC list and dont get a direct email on the same subject send me an email an tell me you have been lost.
