I use a sym on my 17 and it pulls as hard as it would on any other boat. Great on light air days if I am by myself, or, if I have a helmsman other than Auto I carry will carry that sail up to about 6-8knots of pressure. Seems to work best from dead downhill up to a broad reach. That's where I think an asym would be the dogs bollox. More range of use and easier to set/ handle. Auto does a good job in a directionally steady breeze but when the wind kicks up a bit I will douse the thing because it stops being fun and the real work starts. I rarely race so sailing is only EVER about having fun. I have decided that when the funds present themselves, a modern asym will be added to the inventory. I could see one of these puppies being very handy a large amount of the time. Much more handy in several ways than my Gollywobbler. Though next sail purchased will be a heavier storm jib and a new stock jib.....then a new 155 and THEN the assy. I always have a plan. ~:0) Cheers, Tim M17 Puff Kelowna BC --Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Ian Black Sent: Monday, March 10, 2008 8:53 AM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Subject: Re: M_Boats: M15 Asymmetrical spinnaker Hi Rob, I have a genaker that came with my M-17 and it works just fine when I get up the energy to put it up.
