Kendall used the photos to explain rather than words. Imagine this: During the past 24 years mother nature has done her best to make this boat return to the earth, Kendall mentioned 5 big trees and a 10" tree growing through the trailer frame. However he did not mention the smaller trees growing in the leaf duff in the cockpit or the ones growing out of the side lockers. He mentioned rotten wood, but he did not say disintegrated. As I said, I promise to put the photos on the site, you wont believe it. My comment was... "At least you are in it right. Free is a great place to start"! About the companionway boards. I believe I'd measure the top, middle and bottom and the height and call Bob Eeg at Montgomery Boats to see what he can do to make a new set. Bob will also be the supplier for a new centerboard (949) 489-8227. Or you may want to go to the Maintenance and Modifications page to see how another person did repairs on his CB. Also info on how to change it on those pages. http://www.msogphotosite.com/M15MM.html For advice on hull cleaning and the like I think I'd look up some of Don Casey's books on boat maintenance "101 improvements, Hull and Deck Repair, etc". You could probably get a used one or two at Amazon.com. Or look to www.WestMarine.com <http://www.westmarine.com/> or www.BoatUS.com<http://www.boatus.com/> They will have books that would help. I've always maintained the way to be an expert is to read three books on the subject in mind and then go to work. But first, you are absolutely right: Pressure wash and vacuum every inch to be sure she is worth the effort. You want to be sure you are starting with a sound hull. The rest is just money and elbow grease By the time you are ready for the water, you'll be very familiar with every inch of your new boat.
