Skip, Before you sand, you might try going to your local West Marine or chandlery and purchase a bottle of "On and Off" by the Mary Kate company. It is a very strong bottom cleaner. It wont hurt the fiberglass.Don't get it on your trailer paint, though. I use rubber gloves and a diaper rag. I pour some of the stuff onto the rag and wipe it on the boat. So far I haven't seen any bottom grunge that it won't wipe off. Immediately follow the wipe with a hose off. If it works like I think it will it'll be a lot easier than sanding. Hope that helps.
