Take a look, here are some photos from Sean's project on the 17. Don't have any of the 23 he used to have. Hopefully the link works. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/sailhavasu/sets/72157633158969944/ Tim Jarvi Petoskey MI M17 etc... On Mon, Nov 7, 2016 at 11:53 AM, Dave Scobie <scoobscobie@gmail.com> wrote:

the best information on getting the board out and working on the keel/board were shared by Sean Mulligan. Sad to say that all his information is now gone from the www.
the lifting mech for the VERY VERY VERY heavy board is different, but the project is similar to what is done to repair a cast iron M17 centerboard and keel.

there are list members that have worked with their M17 and M23 to repair a stuck centerboard. i hope they will provide information/feedback.
the BIG question is: centerboard stuck from it rusting? centerboard stuck from keel ballast rusting? stuck from both centerboard and keel rusting?
the project isn't a 'couple of days. if the 'stuckness' is just the board's rust you have a week or two to recondition the board. the keel ballast rusting ... well that is a multi-month effort (at best IMO).

Sailors - I am looking for all the guidance I can get, and pictures would be soooo helpful. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an M23 last season, and I restored it over the winter with my dad which was a lot of work, but in the end, she is a beautiful boat and so much fun to sail.
It has been very warm in MN and I am thinking about throwing it in the sling for a day or two at the yard she is located at. This would be on thurs or Friday of this week. Spring time will be very busy and harder to do this at the yard, so I am thinking that now is the time.
Wondering if anyone can help with pics and instructions on the keel. She has not been lowered in three years and will not go down. I want to change out and fix whatever is needed and will only have a day or two in the sling. I am mechanical but know nothing about this project.
