"I appreciate all the suggestions that I have received about fueling while underway and I just have one more question. When you re-fuel do you shut the engine down? I have always done so and of course that is even more of a problem than the re-fueling... Lou (Monty-15... Still The One)"
For some nutty reason, I cannot get a good mating set of connectors for my 4 hp Yamaha's fuel supply. Thing is, the male connector on the motor is original factory Yamaha....but Yamaha does not make the female version for the hose connector. Another after-market company does that as far as I have been informed. I have had the thing pop off so many times when you least desire the effect......so rather than going nuts on the motor with my machete....I disconnected it and use the built-in fuel tank. I chopped off the old quick connector on the hose, installed a small ball valve with a single lever, added a six inch extension of hose and I refuel that way. And yes, I almost always refuel with the motor running. In fact, I have found, with my motor anyway....that if you allow for the wee tank to run dry it is a pain in the rectum to get it started again. I am in no way happy with decanting fuel this way....but it keeps my lazy butt in the game until I get it together to find some proper fittings that won't continually let me down. Any ideas?
