Uh, Steve, the knot is supposed to be up on the teak board and not down where the cockpit drains. I hope that's where you have it tied... I have not had a problem with water coming up through the drain hole. I only noticed a single spurt come up one day, that immediately drained back out. There may have been other spurts that I missed. I always go out with my wife and we sit forward, the way Jerry recommended in one of his treasured epistles. I have plowed through several motor boat wakes to see how the Monty responds, and if it would make my wife uncomfortable. The Monty did great and my wife was comfortable. We have not sailed in high winds. I have a knot in the centerboard pendant, again at Jerry's suggestion. The knot may function as a plug. If water comes in and stays in I would suggest trimming the nose down. Steve R. M-15 #119 Lexington, KY --- Howard Audsley <haudsley@tranquility.net> wrote:
On my older M17, I sometimes get water backflowing in, but that's more of a factor of fore and aft balance. If crew moves to the stern, water flows in...move the crew forward and it runs out. But the 17 drains out the stern. I recall the 15 drains into the cb trunk or some similar fore location.
Is this something a teak grate on the cockpit sole would solve?
