Years ago I was discussing running lights with Larry Pardee and was introduced to kerosene running lights. Although  not very practical (and getting difficult to get) they work. I did take his example by getting a hardware store style "huricane lantern" foir my anchor light. Turns out that Charcoal lighter fluid is really just de-oderized kerosene and a perfect fuel for interior boat "oil lamps" (no stink) and convient for storage. Works great for the anchor lantern which I hang from the boom, burns all night for pennies. I had a clip on the backstay on my last boat but will add a clip to the topping lift for next season. Worth a try if your not into batteries. David and Paula, M-15 #318 "Tiny Dancer"
