Good to read that Fern Ridge is still a good place to sail and Richardson Park a good place to stay. I rented a boatslip there for 2 or 3 seasons about 20 years ago, but moved away from the area in 1998. My M-15 is now at Swantown Marina in Olympia on South Puget Sound. Did you take sailing lessons, or are you learning by DYI? Yes, a great facility and very nice staff. Reads like you had great wind most of the time. My visit the winds were very light ... fun but wish i'd had a bit more. :: Dave Scobie :: former M15 owner #288 - http://www.freewebs.com/m15-name-scred :: M17 #375 SWEET PEA - http://www.m17-375.webs.com :: Sage 17 #1 - AIR BORN - http://sagemarine.us/sage_17.html :: Sage 15 sloop #001 - ASOLARE - http://sagemarine.us/sage_15.html :: SageCat #000 - SAGECAT - http://sagemarine.us/sagecat.html On Mon, Sep 19, 2016 at 12:52 PM, John Schinnerer <john@eco-living.net> wrote:
Hi all,
Thanks for the info on Fern Ridge reservoir (near Eugene, OR) from all who responded, and in particular Larry who did meet up with us there with his sweet little M15. He was there Sunday but I got there later than planned and only got launched and to my slip. Tuesday we were out sailing in the afternoon in brisk winds on a warm sunny day. It is a great sailing lake - probably the longest reaches without constant trimming that I've had with my boat since getting it about a year ago! Wednesday was calmer winds - glassy for a while early afternoon - and I got to use the "cruising" jib for only the second time.
Richardson county park marina & campground is a very nice facility - friendly staff & clean modern everything for the most part. Sleeping on one's boat in a slip is cheaper than a campsite by $10+ a night with access to all the same amenities (including hot showers).
Will post a few pics shortly...
cheers, John S.
