Now I believe I received poor information from the previous owner. He showed me the stopper hole, and said it was for securing the CB when the boat was on the trailer. He had me remove the 3/8" bolt before putting the boat in the water.
I will pull the CB today, and assess any damage. If The tang is still OK, I will use the stopper pin . Otherwise , I will use a knot in the pendent to hold the CB just off the pin. Or experiment....
