Hi Randy, A few years ago I recall reading an article about "Beach Cruising" and the writer had a very interesting idea. I don't recall the size of his boat, but he wanted a dinghy, but couldn't carry it on his "big" boat, and he didn't want to tow it. His answer was a one man inflatable. It could be stowed below decks, and brought to the cockpit and inflated as needed. The clever part of his idea was: How do you ferry two people from board in a one man inflatable? His answer was: After anchoring the "big" boat near shore, and inflating his dinghy, he would row ashore with a (for want of a better description) clothesline. The shore end of the clothesline, and it's block, would be fastened to a tree / stake in the sand / what-have-you. The inflatable dinghy is now attached to the clothesline, and can be pulled back and forth between boat and shore. The first person rows / paddles ashore. Person on ship pulls in the clothesline, retrieving the dinghy. Now they row / paddle ashore. To get back to "big" ship the procedure is reversed. One person at a time using a clothesline to control the dinghy. With this approach, inflatable can be minimum size and cost. I vaguely recall something about a child's swimming pool boat or some such........ Connie
