Rusty, I haven't had any problems with Storm Petrel. From a beat with the jib sheeted tight, just bring her through the wind, free the main and shove the tiller down. I don't usually lock or tie it there, unless it's really blowing. Maybe you just need to believe it will work. Just believe!
