If you need a large battery for an electric trolling motor it has to be located as far forward as you can. I was only looking at a small amount of 12 volt DC power for my GPS (to save on replaceable batteries); and for a little "pancake" SONY CD player, for enjoyable music while sailing. My solution was to install a small motorcycle battery inside the starboard storage area under the berth. It was easily accessible; the weight was negligible; and I could easily take it home for recharging. I installed a small electrical distribution panel against the hull just at the aft end of the berth. I ran my wiring through a piece of small diameter plastic pipe, which I could bend to conform with the curvature of the M15 hull. The location of the electrical panel allowed me to plug in a cigarette plug to power my accessories. Connie
Bill,
On my M-15, I placed my battery in the forward hatch on the center line. I was the first to install elec. in my boat, so I did not have any of the relocation issues that you mention.

Asking if anyone has their battery mounted anywhere differently than the ort side, just inside the bunk bulkhead on an M17? I was thinking of the ossibility of moving it forward and on the centerline. Would need longer attery cables and a new fuse located close to the new location. The recent iscussion on cockpit drains etc, got me thinking about shifting some eight forward, as well as away from the port side, since the main anchor s also stored on that side in the port cockpit locker. Since the boat is overed and stored, I will have to wait a few months to look this over. Bill akin' Time M17 #622
