I do not think you can get paint to stick to the material, check with "PaintBoy" Stan Susman at InterLux. The material comes in various colors (brown included) but I do not know if they are making them in that color. I believe the new model 17's may be able to use the five loop model - this will depend upon the original mounting hole location. The 'early model' 17's had 5 loop rails that should span approximately the same space as two two's the way they appear to be mounted. TakeCare.Have Fun,Go Sailing!
