Hi Martha, I just noticed your email, and comments from several others as well. I changed my boats email target to my less used gmail account to better handle the traffic. But I don't get here on a regular basis. I got a lot of useful info from Connie to improve my M15 rigging such as changing my main rope luff to nylon slides, fix my topping lift by adding a pulley and a cleat and some other minor stuff for next year smooth sailing. My boat is sitting out in my driveway. My check valve project will now have to wait until spring. It is too cold now and in the days ahead. I have to get the tarp on it and move it to the side of the house. I have leaves and yard work to do, and three small engines wanting maintenance. Doesn't mean they are going to get it. Oh and getting my wife's car in the garage. Ugh. So may places, only one boat! I had a pretty good sail experience in Lake Geneva I have been there in years past with my other boats, and it is almost always good. I think i've seen Koshkonong on Wisconsin maps and could be nice for sailing. I might get a chance to try it next year enroute to or from our cabin in Minong, WI. Please let me know if I am doing something wrong in this mailing system. I pressed reply, and it looks like it will go to everyone, and that is how your mail was addressed as well. And I see a number of other messages here; much like a more traditional forum. I am deleting unrelated messages older than just prior to this. Hi Jim!
There are a few other Midwesterners with M boats that communicate either here, on the TraiierSailor Montgomery page or on the Facebook page. I have emailed with another Chicago area couple who, this year started sailing their M's (thats right two boats a 15 & a 17) on Lake Koshkonong, in South central Wisconsin, which is coincidently where I keep mine. There was a 15 for saleRiverside this past spring, dont know where she landed Others communicate about sailing on Superior. I have never sailed this boat on Michigan. We find the trailer extension invaluable when launching in uncertain lake depths. I hope it helps your cause on Lake Nancy.
I read about plenty of M sailors taking their boats out into Long Island Sound and Chesapeake Bay as well as Lake Champlain and Florida's coastal waters. There is a large contingent of Monty folk that attend the Lake Havasu Pocket Cruiser Event in February from all over the US. We have looked at several Newport of Venture 23's over the years, I don't suppose that's what you trailered to the Keyes? It finally feels like winter Jim! How's your project going?
Martha
