I'm also looking into boom tents. There's an interesting looking one on page 144 of the October '08 Sail. Jim Poulakis M-17 "Spirit" On Nov 16, 2008, at 9:16 AM, Flickasf@aol.com wrote:
I have made boom tents for various of my boats over the years. I have a suggestion:
To get more room under the tent while keeping every thing as simple as possible, have at least one batten pocket sew in athwart with one end left open. When used as a boom tent, insert the batten, one that is fairly robust, and it will form an arch giving you more room under the tent.
Use a totally enclosed sleeve and then sew it to the inside of the cover. I use Top Gun for the sleeve and for any areas that may chafe. Use Sunbrella for the cover itself.
