Thanks Rick. I thought it might be an eyeball situation. I hadn't thought about the change in height due to sheeting. Bill On Wed, Sep 2, 2009 at 12:58 PM, Rick Davies <jdavies104@gmail.com> wrote:
Bill,
I just bought a Forespar 6-12, which comes with a mounting pad for the mast, and place it by eyeball at a point where it was roughly level when the genoa was poled out. I didn't measure precisely where it was, but from my research it doesn't seem to be too critical within a few inches. The genoa clew will move up and down depending on the sheet angle and tension anyway.

Good morning all,
So far it is looking like a nice start to September in this area (Ontario). We are heading to Lake Champlain for Labor Day weekend till later in the week. Then up to the Ottawa River at Arnprior.
I have looked through the list archives searching for whisker pole info. Some references to the different types of poles (mostly Forespar). My question is how do I determine the vertical height on the mast to install a fitting to hold the inboard end? Has anyone a done this, or have a link to refer me to so I can calculate it? I am thinking to just put a single eye, instead of a short length of track.
Thanks,
