the stop pin is near the stern end of the keel. there is a flange on the cast-iron centerboard that will stop the board from 'over extending' from the centerboard trunk. there is a distinct 'clunk' when you extend that heavy centerboard in the older M17s. the lighter, lead filled, M15/17 centerboards have no such stop. i have some pictures of this 'stop pin' if folks are interested ... not of SWEEP PEA, but of another M17 i inspected in late '08. dave scobie M17 #375 - SWEET PEA visit SWEET PEA's www-site - http://www.m17-375.webs.com --- On Thu, 2/25/10, Jim Ellsworth <j_ellsworth@earthlink.net> wrote: Dave thanks for your input.
