the rudder on my M17 is covered with epoxy and fiberglass below the waterline and then with antifouling paint. i 'dry sail' the boat ... but for for about 20 years, prior to my purchase, SWEET PEA spent 5 to 7 months a year on a buoy in quartermaster harbor (vashon island, WA). :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 - SWEET PEA :: Sailing Sage 17 #001 - AIR BORN --- On Thu, 7/14/11, david_hill@idg.com <david_hill@idg.com> wrote:
I'd like to hear what Monty owners use for a finish on their rudders. I leave my M17 on a mooring in fresh water five months a year. You can't use marine spar varnish below the water line. Clear epoxy turns cloudy and looks ugly after a few months in the sun. What do folks use?
