Hi John, I did not have a permanently mounted ladder on my M17. There was a West Marine ladder, removable, rope/plastic/metal, that went over the side. Looked like it would work but never had the occasion to try it. Then I ordered the Potter P19 ladder like the one Randy installed. I was pleasantly surprised at the heft and sturdy construction. The original P19 ladder idea may have been given to me by Maria Jorge. Her ladder install is pictured at http://www.msogphotosite.com/M17Halc.html The IM ladder has three steps. I remember Maria and others saying the three step was easier to use because it went deeper into the water. I see the new Montgomery 15's come with a two step ladder. Great photo of the ladder deployed on Frank Durant's new M15 at http://www.msogphotosite.com/M15finally.html Because the mounting area for the ladder is so much lower (M15 vs M17) and the freeboard is less, it may be just fine to save a buck and use the two step, and those are available at lots of places, even West Marine. I had one fine reply on my previous request for recommendations on a good boarding ladder for my M15. Randy Graves recommended the fine ladder offered by International Marine for the Potter 19. A bit pricey, but appears to be very well made, so likely worth every penny. I don't find anything comparable in West's online catalog, so am wondering two things: ONE: Does anyone else have anything else to recommend? TWO: Has anyone installed one of the Potter 19s' on an M15 and has wisdom to offer on where to mount it, and how to back up the mounting bolts? Best yet, does our Monty guru Jerry have wisdom on either question for me? Wishing all of you great sailing in 2007. I plan on it! John Butler
