Great idea. I have one. Nothing to it. Small line is fine, such as 1/8 inch. Any small block in just that spot is fine. Mine runs just as you say. I have a cam cleat on the starboard cabin top just next to my jib cam cleat. I run the line from there up to the block, and then clip it with a carabiner to the forestay between the first and second jib hank. I also use that line for stepping and lowering the mast. I hook it to the forestay when stepping the mast, cleat it off, go forward, and clip the forestay in place. Same thing when lowering. Nice. Hello group: I am considering adding a downhaul for my jib on my M15. I have seen where the downhaul line runs back to the coaming in pictures posted to the web, but would like to know what diameter the line should be (I am thinking 1/8 or 3/16 line) and what kind of block is mounted to turn the line at the foot of the jib. I am planning to mount the block in the third hole in the forestay fitting.
