Bob, Thanks for the excellent response! Rich, Relative to question 3) Is it alot easier taking the boat to a boat yard
relative to raising the boat on blocks yourself and replacing the pennant?
Many of the VA State parks have hoists to put small boats in the water. Your local racing fleets would know where they are located in your area if there are any. Just don't try it on race day :-) I empty the boat and rig a triangle from the stern and bow cleats that centers about 6- 10 " forward of the forward edge of the bridge deck. With this arrangement you can hoist the boat off the trailer, pull the trailer out, slip in some safety blocks and lower the CB. Before doing this I removed the stopper knot in the existing pennant, whiped a thin line to the end of it, whiped the other end to the new pennant. Lead the line through the mainsheet cleat on the bridge deck and outside the boat so that you can control the raising and lowerering of the CB without being in the boat. I believe this can be done without removing the pin to the CB. I was replacing my CB at the time and can't honestly remember. If you take all of the tools with you can cover it all in one trip. 1) Does the pin have to be removed? 2) Does the board have to be completely removed from the boat? 3) Is it alot easier taking the boat to a boat yard relative to raising the boat on blocks yourself and replacing the pennant? 4) Do you need assistance raising and lowering the board?
Thank you,
Rich Cottrell
