I'll bet I know another "skill": sitting to leeward when everyone else is sitting to weather in an attempt to keep the boat flat on a beat. One day up in the North Channel, beating in to an anchorage at Clara/Turnbull Islands, Rudy decided he'd go check out the foredeck and started out along the weather side deck just moments before I was going to have to tack again, which would undoubtedly have put him in the drink!
