I agree with all the sentiments about the M15. Fabulous and stable boat. Very hard to knock down. Self righting. I bought one of these for so many reasons, but one was safety for a small boat. The West Wight Potter, for example, can turtle. I have really pushed the M15 at times, putting the lee rail in the water just to see what she will do. She really stiffens up. So, under normal circumstances, you should be fine. Despite all of that, since I day sail mostly, I just don't need the storage. So, positive floatation with the styrofoam is just another margin of safety. Most of us would not find ourselves in very tough sailing situations. But, they happen. I knocked my tiller and rudder out of the gudgeons once trying to get some seaweed off. I was spinning in circles! Not my proudest moment. Man did I look like a dork. I put it all back together and sailed off. But, had the winds been high I could have spun, gybed, and broached just like that. Not my M-15 of the same vintage. I hope I never need it, same with my new self inflating PFD, but I want it there if I ever do need it. Steve M-15 # 335
