yes, we used to lift al 15's to keel them and then put them on the trailer by the chainplates. Never dropped even one! It seems to me that when Jerry was in So Cal, there were photo's at So Bay Yacht Club that showed a M15 being hoisted by the chain plates. It may have been in one of the early brochures.

I haven't lifted an M15 by the chainplates, but I understand it's perfectly safe (Jerry's done it). That said, I've lifted an older M17 with the toe rail with no problem at all. I'd do it, but I'd be a little nervous too. If I had my druthers, I'd use a strap.
Your ordinary M15 weighs in at around 750 pounds. t
