Bob, so nice to hear from you! You sold me a great boat, and I kept up the tradition. I don’t know if you followed my videos over the years, but Kestrel came through for me. Great boat. I have made a few mods since you owned her. I took off the life lines, went back to the old wooden foil for the rudder, changed the mast rake, added a boom vang, topping lift, jib fairleads, jiffy reefing, hook on gooseneck, ratchet block on a swivel cam for the main, capture shackles for the halyards…bunches of stuff! New Hyde sails. All to solo sail her in rough conditions. She sailed in SF Bay, Tomales Bay, Monterey Bay, Santa Cruz, Lake Sonoma, Pinecrest lake, and probably some other places I don’t remember. Flash the sailing dog came with me too. I’m gonna miss this boat, and Bob, you were a terrific owner of her. I thought of you often when I sailed her. I hope the next owner is equal to the task. I only part with her because of the imminent launching of my SCAMP that I am building. I will shed a tear for sure. Can’t believe I’m selling her, but I just won’t sail her once the SCAMP is done. I just heard that Kestral is for sale. I am the previous owner, and had her from 6/30/94, until I sold her to Dan in 2011(?), due to health considerations.
She is a really good boat. I sailed her in San Francisco Bay and occasionally in Monterey Bay, and whatever dumb thing I did, she always came through for me. Fun to sail, great single-handed sail, safe and dependable.
Don’t be concerned about her age, she still has many more years in her, and the price is a real bargain.
Yes, I really miss sailing her, but she gave me wonderful memories. Give her another good home.
