Hello Manuel, When we first sailed "hula pie" the cast iron board would not come down either- it took some banging from above with a steel rod against the board just forward of the shackle where the line ties on and inserting a hacksaw blade between the board and trunk to clean out the junk. Did you leave the line around the winch and in the cleat when you squirted in the WD-40? If not, it is possible that the board loosened then fell and broke out the stop pin- this had happened to the previous owner of our boat- and is now hanging from the pivot. Is there a shackle still attached to the line? The board is not real thick at this point and could have broken out. Another possibility is the small "hook" portion on the board that meets the stop pin has broken off and will need to be built up again at a welding shop. In any case a quick dive will tell the tale- brave the cold and check it out. We removed our iron board for sand blasting and refinish this winter and the inside of the trunk was in perfect condition- no swelling, no marine growth, and no cracks at hull/ trunk joint. Hope your board is just hanging there! Ron and Cathryn Goodspeed 1974 M17 #025 "hula pie" Nevada City, CA
