When doing it by yourself there is the danger of wind causing the mast to go to one side or the other unless supported by some baby stays. My boat does not have the metal toe rail to attach to so it will take some thinking as to where to add them. I have used a "A" frame in the past but do not see on the M17 where it can attach. I used the stanchions on my old boat.
