I agree with the previous posters that a bad connection in the fuel line will lead to the problems you are having. I just learned a new glitch that can also cuase the same problems. My Yamaha kept losing power then dying after running for a few minutes at low rpm. When I would check the bulb it would be soft and if I kept pumping it occasionaly the motor would continue to run fine. I changed every fitting, tightened every clamp, even changed complete fuel lines and still had the same problem. A knowledgeable friend figured it out in a bout 2 seconds. He told me I probably had a very small pinhole in one of the fuel pump diaphragms. As long as the motor was revved up the pump was still strong enough to draw fuel through the primer bulb's check valve. As soon as I idled down it wasn't strong enough to draw through the check valve. As soon as it exausted the available fuel on the engine side of the primer bulb it would crap out. Pump the bulb a few times and it would fire right back up. I bought a diaphragm from boats.net for about $15.00, put it in which was a piece of cake, and whamo! she's running like a top again. Heading out tomorrow morning for the 1300+ mile drive to meet up with Larry and the gang in the San Juans. It's gonna be a long trip to get up there but we are really excited..and believe it or not there are folks coming from a lot further away then we are.....all the way from Texas in fact! We should arrive in Anacortes Friday, early afternoon. The group will be having dinner together Saturday night in Anacortes and then heading out Sunday morning. If your a Monty owner/fan but can't make the trip (and live up that way) come on down and say hi, we'd love to meet you.
