Bill- the 10 will plane in conditions like that; when you see a puff coming, hike hard and roll back a bit to keep the bow from going under. jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Kaiser" <whkaiser@gmail.com> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, June 28, 2009 9:22 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: New to me M7-11
I happened on an M10 here in Phoenix had to refarnish the rub rails the rudder and center board were in good shape. Had to re sheet the boat has oar locks the oars are 6ft way to short: fun boat last time out was white caps had to be quick on the main sheet release in the puffs to keep it up right; exciting. White water splashing over the bow. Keep you on your toes wearing a life jacket because no one is on the lake to help you if you dump it.

Happened to stop at a garage sale in Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast and saw a lapstrake dingy leaned against a storage shed. Asked about it and ended up taking it home with me. Hull number 60, built 02/74. The hull looks good. It had red bottom paint to the waterline at some point, though it has mostly worn off. The centerboard is in great shape, the rudder has a chunk out of it, but fixable I think. Has two sails. The original is limp, but the other still has some life left in it. The mast and boom are clean and not bveat up. No oars though it has oarlocks. The teak rub rails and seats were coated, badly, with varnish, so that will have to come off. All-in-all a good find I think I needed another project.
