Tom: In the light wind part (~under 10 knots I guess) of the 2005 San Juan Cruise I was able to keep up with the larger boats and sometimes pointed higher than Larry was (not saying whether he was pointing as high as he could have). However, when the winds picked up, we M15's got left behind. --Gary Hyde N24 'Sailabration' M17 #637 'Hydeaway2' M15 #235 'Vanilla' On Aug 19, 2005, at 10:28 AM, Tom Smith wrote:
Good gracious. Peeing in the lake David? Does Bill know about this?
I have to believe dropping solid waste in a lake is a no-no about everywhere. Open ocean--different story.
I almost convinced Larry Yake a couple of times the M15 is faster than the M17--matter of fact, in very light winds I believe it is. Not when it starts to blow, however. Now, could Jerry in an M15 beat me in an M17? I wouldn't bet against him... t

Thanks for the info on the Boombox, Tom. Since the v-berth space on my old M-15 doesn't seem to accommodate any of the newer porta- potties, that (with the Wag Bags) seems like a good alternative. And at the risk of descending even lower down the scatological ladder, I have a question about ecologically correct boating that I have not seen addressed anywhere. To put it bluntly: Is it OK to pee over the side (to leeward, of course) while sailing on an inland lake? My guess is that it's probably against various state and/or federal laws. But I'm just looking for confirmation here.
And yes, it was a hoot sailing with our resident photo maven, Bill Lamica yesterday. He told me that he felt like my M-15 actually out- performed his (now Tom's) M-17. But I kept telling him that it probably just felt that way because he was so much closer to the water. :-P
