Joe,
We’re sure going to miss you…
But I look forward to that day when we meet in person and spend eternity with
our Lord, sailing on that crystal sea.

Dear friends and family,
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing
of Rev. Joseph R. Kidd. "Papa Joe" died Sunday March 23, 2003 at
around 8:45PM. He collapsed in a hallway following a dance comedy skit in
support of the silent auction for the Mariposa UMC Children's Camp that's to
take place in June. He never regained consciousness even though his personal
doctor and Yosemite Park EMTs, who happen to be in attendance, tried in vain to
bring him back. We are comforted knowing that Joe didn't suffer, death was
sudden, and that his moments leading up to death were filled with joy, dancing,
laughter, and happiness. He was with his church family, and went out his way.
A heartfelt thanks of love and hugs to everyone in our church and extended
family who gave immediate support to Gussie, and have continued to hold our
family up during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to:
The Mariposa United Methodist Church Parish Hall Building Fund
P.O. Box 248
Mariposa, CA

Memorial Service info will be announced Tues. March 25, 2003.
God bless all of you,
The Kidd family,
Gussie, Joe, and Jon

Said his family upon my request to inform his Montgomery family:
"Yes, of course you can inform Dad's Montgomery friends of his passing.
Like all boat owners, he loved talking about his boat and sharing his
knowledge. Thank you very much for the kind thoughts."

Though I never met Joe in person, I feel like I've lost a good friend. I always
felt that Joe gave us the benefit of his experience and wisdom with patience
and understanding, and a lot of wit thrown in. He will be remembered by all
Montgomery owners through the MSOG web site where his many contributions will
continue to help others for years to come.
The Internet isn't as impersonal as I thought.
Thank you, Joe. You will be missed.
