I would rather keep it down while sleeping since that should make the boat less tender, and then I can't forget it put it down the next morning. In defense of taping on a centerboard gasket- I found out that airplanes, and high speed trains have been constructed for decades with 3M "structural adhesive film" in place of rivets which is a fancy marketing term for double sided tape that is stronger than the material it's bonding together. I have heard most dinghy centerboard gaskets are screwed on, but I don't feel comfortable putting metal screws below the waterline into my steel punching filled keel. To eliminate the clunk while sleeping, I raise the centerboard ( I figured this out the second night that I slept on the boat Best Regards,PeteM15 #243 Oasis
