Art. Have you tried the deck after the boat has been sitting in the sun? Gray decks, actually anything darker than white, are so much easier on the eyes (less strain). My boat/home SWALLOW has light-ish to medium-ish gray decks and my eyes are a lot less tired at the end of the day. The same works for tanbark sails. When I bought my M17 I wasn't a fan of the tanbark sails until after a full day of sunny sailin'. At the end of the day I noticed my eyes didn't hurt! Maybe Roland Cleveland, who just finished a full restoration, can comment on how much non-skid paint he used. I don't know how active he is on the email list. Roland is very active on the MSOG Facebook group. I recommend KiwiGrip. Excellent product, easy to use, and H2O cleanup. You can also exactly duplicate the non-skid texture that Jerry put on the second gen M17s, and the M15's, S17s, S15s and SCs. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com <<-- new site! The previous owner of *Tea *M17 #406 painted her non-skid areas battleship gray. As I am not a navy man and I would prefer not to have to deal with the hot decks this colour would induce, I am starting the planning on repainting it. My question is: How much paint to buy to paint the decks and cabin top? I am thinking 2 quarts, but I would like to get a better idea before I order.
Thanks
