Looking good Jazzy! Nothing like a set of new sails to put a spring in your boats step! When you mentioned that you had the main cut a bit to better accommodate your dodger (which I am keen to see up close sometime), how much extra clearance did you go for? BTW - If you are still looking for a good closeup photo of my bow mounted Rocna setup, I have just updated Serenity's page on the msog photo site Keith *Keith R. Martin, P.Eng.* *Burnaby, B.C. Hi all, I finally was able to get around to ordering new sails! I've retired the 1980's models and replaced them with with a set of crisp Precision radials.
Here's how it went for anyone that's wondering... Called them up, talked about sails and materials etc. They send you a measurement form to fill out and return. Then their design team calls back with any questions or clarifications. 4 weeks later a box shows up nicely packed.
They were super nice, and helpful as I'd never done this before and was a little stressed about getting sails that didn't fit.
To my relief everything fit perfectly. Hopefully today I can go give them them little try!
Attached is a quick and dirty picture of the main, the genny is furled. I'm hoping to get better pics on the 4th. I had the sail cut slightly different to accommodate El Ninos dodger better. Added an additional reef point as well.
Also, since I last posted, I installed an ST1000 autopilot, which is a life saver single handed. I haven't spilled a drop of beer since. I also installed some LED strip lighting inside where you can really see it. Easy project and the cabin is really finished looking at night.
Cheers! -Jazz
