Charles, I remember this being brought up once before several years ago. Jerry pretty much shot it down as a bad idea. As I recall, the issues with converting to a masthead rig went far beyond replacing the forestay and included things like installing a backstay, shortening the boom to clear it, re-cutting the main, and maybe even relocating the mast to balance the new sail plan. You might be able to find his post in the archives. Good luck. Larry Y On Tue, Oct 7, 2014 at 7:54 AM, Charles Hill via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:
I want to install CDI roller furling on my M-15. My question is. Since I have to change the forestay to a turnbuckle arrangement plus buy a new sail, would it be advisable to go to a Masthead configuration since I live in an area of light winds most of the year?
This is the second time I have posted this with no responses. Does anyone have Dave Scobies email?
Also: I have a 2012 Honda 2hp longshaft OB for sale.
