All points are well taken! I was speaking in jest, for certain. As we all know, sarcasm and/or humor is hard to transmit through email. Honestly, I despise the old forum model as well. Trying to dig through posts on a somewhat inaccessible and cryptic website format is certainly annoying at least. Fortunately, there have been great strides in this technology! I regularly use google groups as a forum with my friends that works out to be exactly the same experience as an email list. I don't actually know how the Mboats list is administrated, but it I would be happy to start a google group for us and have the group migrate to it, if there was any sort of interest. Though I'm generally a lurker, I appreciate all the members of this list and generally enjoy their attitudes and stories! Thanks to all for being a great community! No...this is not a forum in my mind. This is an e-mail list. I was a bit to cryptic. My apologies.
I was commenting on the mention of changing to a forum format. My point is that I believe a lot would be lost if this list were abandoned and the group went to a forum delivery. A couple of other e-mail lists I have been on have converted to forums. They are never the same, and tend to lose a lot of their members....though I suppose that other people do join the forum because it may be more easily discoverable via a Google search.
I save the e-mails about how to do things and am able to search for them later by doing a word search in my e-mail (or directing all of the e-mails to a certain file).
There is also something more conversational to me about this type of listserve. Maybe because it is delivered to me...and I do not have to actually go to the forum.
